What’s a Water Softener System?
A water softener system is a device that helps in generating water that is free from salts. This also helps in reducing metal cations, like magnesium and calcium, from the water. One can usually find these in different homes and big establishments.
There are different kinds of water softener systems. The three basic types are classified according to how they are operated. There are those that are operated manually, automatically, and semi-automatically. For the manual water softener system, a person has to close and open the valves in order to regenerate water into the system. Semi-automated water systems will require the operator to push certain buttons for water regeneration. Automatic ones, on the other hand, are set with a timer and the operations just follow through.
Aside from these types of water softeners, there are also other important kinds that are available in the market:
Salt Free Unit
This water softener uses nanotechnology in removing the ions and salt in the water. These atoms are arranged properly in order to prevent the calcium ions to attach themselves in the water.
These also check lime scaling and make all the processes eco-friendly.

Magnetic Unit
This kind of system uses carbonate salts and magnets in softening the water. This does not remove all the minerals completely from the water, but can greatly reduce their content.
Ion Exchange System

This water softening unit makes use of salt substitute in initializing the softening process. Sodium and potassium are coated in an object.
These minerals are then traded with the magnesium and calcium in the water. This probably is the most commonly used water softening system.
Reverse Osmosis System

This type of system has a soft membrane that removes the impurities and ions. It uses a great amount of pressure in removing dirt and salts that are sieved through the membrane. This is an effective water softening process but can be a bit costly.
Having a water softener system at home is helpful for many things. Since there are places that add chemicals into their water system for cleanliness, having a water softener will aid in removing all those chemicals. Hard water may also not be good for you and your home. With a water softener, you’ll notice the much improved quality of water that you use. You’ll see that your shampoo and your soap lathers well and your clothes are cleaner. You won’t find any residues on your bathroom due to the hard water on your pipes. Other appliances that use water, like coffee maker and water heater will have a much longer lifespan. Expect your skin and hair to be softer and cleaner in the long run.
In choosing a water softener system for your home, choose the one that will fit the level of hardness of water in your area. It is also best to go for those that will suit your needs and preferences. The budget and the time that you can allot in operating the system are also factors to consider.
